Chinese Flower: Just received my kit from Trish

Today has turned out to be a wonderful day. The weather has been really nice (around 75 degrees farenheit) and in addition I have received Trish’s Chinese Flower kit this afternoon.

The kit consists of the fabric with the design drawn on it, a few needles, a color photograph of the finished project and a great looking step by step instruction booklet with plenty of color photographs, which I will read a bit later.

Here is a photograph of everything needed for the project except Trish herself 🙂

On this photo we can see Trish’s DVD, the printed booklet, all my Anchor threads, a photo of the finished project and under them, the fabric with the design drawn on it. We can’t see the needles, but they are there. All these items are resting on the envelope in which the kit arrived with 20 beautiful South African postage stamps.

When I was watching on the DVD, earlier on today, the different sections explaining about the long and short stitch for curved shapes on Trish’s DVD, lots of questions popped up in my mind but by the time I finished watching it most of these questions had been answered for me. I still have some but they will keep until class begins.

I especially loved the section about fur & feathers since I have always been fascinated by birds. When the weather is nice, I just love to go sit quietly in our garden and watch them do their things. Perhaps one day I will actually be able to needle paint some of them. That would really be great.

Until then, have a great day!

I haven’t done embroidery in many, many years. It will be great to see what you learn from this class. And it will be fun for all of us to watch along. Hope you get started soon.

Thank you Pierrette for sharing this course with us. I can imagine how excited you were to receive the flower kit. I’m excited about the possibility of doing the course in the future.

    kind regards
    Chris

    • Hi Chris,

I am very excited because I have tons of projects that I will finally be able to work on with confidence with what I will be learning from this class and hopefully more advanced classes in the near future. It just opens up a world of possibilities.

It will be fascinating to watch this project develop.

Can’t wait to see how well an online class works for this technique. I’ve done a couple of one day thread painting classes and always come home full of enthusiasm only to find my work at home just dosn’t quite match up to that done in class. Perhaps it is just a matter of practice! Good luck and thank you for sharing your experiences with us.

    • Gill,

I think that the biggest difference with this cyberclass is the fact that we have Trish’s DVD and we can actually see her do the stitches and not just read instructions and/or look at photographs.
